A striking vintage French roe deer head mount sourced from a traditional brocante market in northern France. This genuine vintage taxidermy specimen is mounted on a wooden plaque with rustic character and authentic period appeal.

This is a decorative piece with real presence, ideal for a hunting cabin, country hallway, boot room, study, lodge-style interior or collector’s display. It is a genuine older piece and is best suited to someone who appreciates rustic vintage taxidermy with age-related wear, previous repair and character.

Please note: this is a genuine vintage taxidermy piece with visible age-related wear, some separating to the ears and nose, and a previous repair to one ear. It displays well when mounted but is best suited to a buyer who appreciates rustic vintage pieces or is happy with a little character / TLC.

Condition & authenticity

This is a genuine vintage taxidermy piece in rustic used condition. The mount was previously sold and unfortunately sustained damage in transit. It has since been repaired, with the repair mainly relating to one of the ears. The piece is now stable, mounts well and still displays attractively on the wall, but the repair is visible on close inspection and should be expected.

There is also some age-related separating and wear to the ears and nose, including separating to the nose area and light wear to one ear. These are fairly usual signs of age on older taxidermy pieces, but they are mentioned clearly for accuracy.

Overall, this is a charming and decorative vintage roe deer mount with plenty of rustic character, but it should not be considered pristine. It may suit a buyer looking for an authentic brocante piece, a rustic decorative display item, or a small restoration / TLC project.
