❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS❓

Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
- All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.

Can I buy just one of these taps?
-Yes, for a single tap please see listing Vintage Brass Wall Mounted Tap

I need to buy more than the stock showing on the listing. Do you have more available?
-Yes we do. As we make all our taps to order we limit the number available in listings to ensure we can keep to our dispatch times. If you need more than the quantity listed, please message us and we will increase the number available to buy.

If these are unsuitable, can I return them?
- This specific listing is for a custom size made to measure pair of taps which are made specifically to your own measurements therefore they are non refundable.  -  Bespoke items are exempt from The Consumer Act 2015 and Distance Selling Regulations and cannot be returned if you have mis-measured, ordered in error or they are unsuitable.

The measurements available are not suitable for me, can the taps be made any longer?
-This style cannot be made longer but we have other styles which are more robust using thicker copper and these can be made to a longer projection. See this listing

Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Copper Sinks and Taps section of our website shop where you will find over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass.

What size is this tap?
- This has a fairly small tap head, best suited to a smaller basin or sink, it will be too small for a kitchen sink or full size bathroom sink, see measurements on the photographs for exact sizes.

The tap head is too small for my requirements, do you sell any chunkier taps?
-Yes we do, these are made from dainty tap heads with 15mm copper pipework, we sell other taps in both 1/2 inch size and a chunkier 3/4 inch size which have thicker 22mm pipe rather than the standard 15mm as well as 2 other slightly larger styles. See the Copper Basins, Sinks & Taps section of our website

What size is the water inlet pipework?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe behind the wall where the water is connected.

Can these be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, these style of  taps do not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. They are designed to fit into a wall. They are fitted by screwing the brass base into the wall using the screws provided. They are not fitted using a back nut.

Are these suitable for a bath?
-These will be too small for a bath.

Can these be fitted in a shepherds hut or camper van?
-Yes all our taps can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.

Can I use your taps as outdoor taps?
-Yes, all the taps we sell are suitable for outdoor use.

How do I connect this to my water inlet?
-This style of wall-mounted tap is designed to be fitted by securing it directly to the front of the wall. Please note that none of our wall-mounted taps are designed to come apart – each one is sold as a complete, soldered unit. To install this type of tap, you will need full access to the pipework behind your wall. For this reason, we recommend checking with your plumber (or contacting us) before purchasing to ensure this style is suitable for your installation.

-The water inlet pipe can be connected to the tail end using soldering, compression fittings, or push-fit connectors.

-We also stock an alternative version on our website), designed specifically for use with surface-mounted pipework.

I have surface exposed mounted copper pipework, do you have taps that can be used for this type of fitting arrangement?
- Yes we do. If you have a surface/exposed mounted copper water inlet pipe we can make this tap option with a suitable wall bracket. Message for details. See the following listing for an example of the bracket on a different tap style Copper & Brass Exposed Pipework Tap

Can these taps be fitted as a direct replacement for my existing wall mounted taps?
- Probably not. These are made to be fitted from the front on walls where existing access behind is available, this is usually where a house is having a refit or a new build rather than as a direct swap. They are designed and supplied as a complete unit already soldered together, as such they can only be fitted from the front of the wall. This means that to connect your water supply you will need full access to the wall behind where the taps are to be fitted. This unit does not come apart and it cannot be fitted to copper pipe protruding from an existing wall. The water inlet pipe must be connected behind the wall. Please check with your fitter or message for advice before buying if you are unsure.

How often will I need to polish my taps to keep them shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the taps, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.

When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of 3-5 working days after purchase. Please contact us via online chat or email before buying if your order is urgent as these can also often be sent earlier depending on current demand.

I am based in Australia - will these fit my pipework?
-All our taps have a water inlet pipe size of 15mm which is UK standard. 15mm copper pipe is common in Australia and we have supplied taps to customers with this pipe size. We would urge you to check that this is the correct size before buying. Australia postage is available at checkout.

I am outside the UK - will these fit my pipework & can I order?
-All our taps have a water inlet pipe size of 15mm which is UK standard. 15mm copper pipe is standard in some countries and adaptors are often available where it is not. Please check your pipe size carefully if you ordering from overseas.  Australia postage is available at checkout. For other countries please enquire for a shipping quote.

I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. These are made by Martin, our production partner, who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please message us using either the live chat (this is either Martin or Louise, not a chat bot) or our online contact form where we can arrange for a telephone call  if you prefer.  Alternatively, leave a message on our answerphone at 01772 494985 and we will call you back. We are often out of the country or in a noisy workshop so rarely hear the phone.
