A charming vintage French brocante find, this small red enamel casserole or stockpot is a wonderfully practical piece of traditional European kitchenware.

Finished in a classic rich red enamel, the pot is stamped “Made in Yugoslavia” to the base. Much of the enamelware found and used throughout France and wider Europe during the mid-20th century was manufactured in Eastern Europe, and these Yugoslavian-made pieces are increasingly sought after for their authentic retro kitchen character.

At just 14cm in diameter, this is a particularly useful smaller-sized pot, ideal for heating or serving one or two portions of soup, stew, casserole or vegetables. It also makes an attractive piece for display in a French farmhouse, country or vintage-inspired kitchen.

Condition & authenticity

This is an authentic vintage piece sourced from a French brocante and is in good vintage condition as shown in the photographs.

As with all vintage enamelware, please examine the photographs carefully for any age-related marks, wear or imperfections that form part of its history and character.

The base is stamped Made in Yugoslavia. Although sourced in France, the pot was manufactured in the former Yugoslavia, an important historic producer of enamel kitchenware supplied throughout Europe.
