A charming vintage Grès Paysan stoneware cornichons jar featuring the French inscription "Cornichons" . Cornichons are gherkins, but this is the specific French term for a miniature, tart gherkin. They are picked very early in the growing process, which is why they are smaller than the usual gherkins from UK supermarkets. They are traditionally served as accompaniments on French charcuterie boards and alongside raclette.

This jar is made in Japan and inspired by rustic French country pottery, it combines earthy stoneware textures with the warm farmhouse aesthetic that made Grès Paysan so popular during the 1970s.

With its speckled cream glaze, hand-crafted appearance, this versatile piece works beautifully as a storage jar, decorative kitchen display or addition to a collection of vintage stoneware and French-inspired homewares.
