Vintage French Matfer Copper Basin Sink – Roll Top Countertop Bathroom Basin 38cm

A substantial vintage French brocante find, this large roll-top copper basin has been carefully upcycled from an authentic French copper cooking pot into a unique countertop bathroom sink. Weighing approximately 3kg, it is a noticeably heavier and more substantial piece of traditional French copperware and bears the distinctive Matfer chef’s toque maker’s stamp.

 The deep rolled rim, warm hammered copper colouring and naturally aged patina make it a striking statement basin for a farmhouse bathroom, cloakroom, vanity unit, garden room or character property.

It is also suitable for camper van and motorhome conversions where the installation and waste connection are compatible.

The basin is watertight and comes complete with a standard UK 1¼" bathroom pop-up waste. Choose either a brass-topped or chrome-topped waste at checkout. Tap not included (shown for scale)

Condition & authenticity

This is a genuine vintage French copper cooking vessel rather than a newly manufactured reproduction basin. It retains natural patina, surface marks, small bumps and age-related wear associated with its previous life as traditional cookware. These characteristics form part of its history and individual vintage character and are shown in the photographs.

The copper bears the distinctive chef’s toque stamp associated with Matfer French professional cookware.

Fitting Notes

This basin is supplied with a standard UK 1¼" bathroom pop-up waste. A bathroom waste is slightly narrower than a standard kitchen sink waste, so if the basin is installed in a camper van, garden kitchen or other area where food particles may enter the waste, care should be taken to prevent blockages.

Camper vans and motorhomes can also use different waste-pipe sizes. Please check your existing plumbing before installation. Adaptors for different pipe sizes are readily available from caravan, motorhome and plumbing suppliers.
