Add a touch of traditional French farmhouse charm to your kitchen with this unusual vintage French porcelain cheese dish by L'Hirondelle, from Mehun-sur-Yèvre, France. Featuring a distinctive cow-shaped serving base and a removable illustrated lid, this charming piece of French brocante kitchenware is both decorative and practical.

The glossy white porcelain base features a beautifully moulded cow's head, while the round lid is decorated with a colourful French country scene depicting a milkmaid alongside a cow. The word "Fromage", meaning cheese in French, completes its traditional farmhouse appearance.

Designed for serving and covering cheese, the round dish is particularly suited to small cheeses such as Camembert, portions of Brie and other favourite French cheeses. Its unusual design also makes it an attractive decorative piece for a rustic kitchen, country dining table or vintage porcelain collection.

Made from French porcelain, the underside bears the original L'Hirondelle manufacturer's mark, identifying Mehun-sur-Yèvre, France, together with the wording "Spécial Lave Vaisselle", indicating that it was originally manufactured as dishwasher-suitable tableware.
