A characterful vintage French brocante find, this compact pressed glass ice bucket is an original piece of Préfontaines promotional barware, made to advertise the once-popular French table wine brand.

Believed to date from around the 1960s to early 1970s, it features the Préfontaines name on the glass on both sides, a geometric pressed-glass pattern and its original metal swing handle.

Préfontaines was a recognised French table wine brand associated with D.M.S. (Distribution des Marques Sélectionnées), which subsequently became part of Société des Vins de France.

Its small proportions make this a particularly useful cocktail ice bucket for a home bar or drinks trolley. At only 11cm in diameter, it's designed for serving ice for drinks rather than chilling a full-size wine or champagne bottle.
