Vintage French Enamel House Number 18 – Large Antique Blue & White Door Plaque 20cm

This wonderfully timeworn enamel house number plaque features the number 18 in traditional white numerals against a deep navy blue background.

At approximately 20cm x 15cm, this is the larger and older-style format of French enamel house number, substantially bigger than the smaller flat enamel plaques more commonly found today. The enamel has a gently raised or domed profile, giving the plaque a particularly traditional appearance.

Its years outdoors have left plenty of authentic character. The enamel is worn and weathered, with surface marks, losses around the edges and fixing holes, discolouration and areas of exposed and oxidised metal. Rather than detracting from the piece, these signs of age give it the wonderfully rustic appearance sought after in genuine French architectural salvage.

Condition & authenticity

This is an authentic vintage French enamel plaque and is well worn from many years of outdoor use. There is substantial age-related wear including enamel loss, surface marks, fading, discolouration, rust and oxidation, particularly around the edges and fixing holes.

These imperfections are part of its history and give the plaque its distinctive timeworn character. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.

This is a genuine vintage item rather than a modern reproduction.
