One side is titled 'Assassinat de bara par les Vendeens'.- This refers to François Joseph Bara (30 July 1779 – 7 December 1793) who was a French soldier best known for his death during the War in the Vendée
Reverse titled 'Valmay' - This refers to The Battle of Valmy, also known as the Cannonade of Valmy.
