Bring authentic French country charm into your kitchen with this beautiful vintage French ceramic salt box, traditionally known as a boîte à sel. Featuring a fruit basket design and the word SEL (French for salt), this charming piece is a wonderful example of traditional French kitchenware. this was produced in Czechoslovakia for France, this was fairly common in the 20th century.

Made from cream-glazed ceramic with a removable wooden lid, (this is worn and could do with a revarnish) this vintage salt keeper was designed to hang on the kitchen wall, keeping salt conveniently close to hand when preparing meals. Sourced from a French brocante, it offers both practical storage and decorative appeal, particularly in rustic farmhouse, French country and cottage-style kitchens.

The base carries a faded French pottery stamp which reads Victoria China Czechoslovakia. Although the exact maker and age have not been confirmed, the stamp adds an interesting element to this original vintage piece.
