Vintage French Ceramic Escargot Snail Plates – Green & Yellow Leaf Design

A charming set of 4 or 6 vintage French ceramic escargot plates, traditionally designed for serving escargots à la bourguignonne (French garlic and herb butter snails). Sourced in France and originally used in a French restaurant, these wonderfully characterful snail plates bring authentic French bistro and brocante style to the table.

Each ceramic plate has an unusual leaf-shaped design with 12 individual wells, allowing twelve escargots to be served in their shells. The plates are individually made and finished with a rustic green and yellow glaze, with natural variations in colour, glazing and finish from plate to plate. These differences are part of their handmade vintage character and mean no two plates are exactly alike.

Ideal for serving traditional French escargots, these plates also make distinctive French vintage tableware for dinner parties, bistro-style entertaining and special occasions. Their sculptural leaf shape and rich glaze also look beautiful displayed in a French country, farmhouse or rustic kitchen.
