This vintage French Cousances gratin dish is a compact and characterful example of traditional enamelled cast-iron cookware. Made in France and finished with a rich red exterior and contrasting cream interior, it has two integrated side handles and is ideal for baking and serving individual gratins, vegetables, side dishes and desserts.

Sourced from a traditional French brocante, this authentic vintage find combines practical oven-to-table use with the timeless appearance of classic French country kitchenware.

Cousances was a renowned French manufacturer of enamelled cast iron before being acquired by Le Creuset in 1957. Cookware continued to be manufactured under the Cousances name for a number of years following the acquisition. This dish is believed to date from the mid-20th century and is likely around 50 years old, making it of particular interest to collectors of original Cousances and vintage Le Creuset cookware.
