Vintage French Cast Iron Fondue Pot | Octagonal Brown Enamel

A distinctive vintage French brocante find, this heavy cast iron fondue pot has an unusual octagonal shape and graduated brown and beige enamel finish that gives it wonderful retro character.

Originally designed as a fondue pot, its substantial cast iron construction and geometric shape are typical of the practical yet decorative European cookware popular during the mid-20th century. The unusual eight-sided form has an Art Deco-style influence and makes this a particularly eye-catching piece of vintage French kitchenware.

The pot has an open ring-style typical fondue top rather than a conventional full lid and is being sold exactly as found at the French brocante. Today, it could be enjoyed as a characterful vintage serving or display piece, or repurposed as an unusual indoor planter or herb pot.

At least 60 years old and possibly older, it has plenty of evidence of its previous life, including small chips, surface marks and general age-related wear. These imperfections are clearly shown in the photographs and have been reflected in the price.
