FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
- All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.

Can I buy a pair of these taps?
-Yes, for a pair please see the Copper & Brass Basins & Taps section of our website or select quantity as 2.

Do you make the taps yourselves?
- We sell the basins and taps on behalf of our production partner who makes the taps, sinks and basins - Lea Gas & Heating.  All the basins we sell are bought in France and up cycled in the UK; all the taps are handmade to order. Lea Gas & Heating Services is owned and run by Martin who is a qualified gas engineer and plumber. (AKA. My Husband!)

I would like to buy more than the number of taps listed as available. Do you have any more than the listing shows?
- Yes, we usually have at least 3 available at any one time, if you require more, or the listing is showing less than you need, please message and we will add some more.

Can this be used as a monobloc mixer tap?
-This is a single feed tap so cannot be used as a monobloc. It can be either hot or cold, but not both.

If the tap is unsuitable, can I return it for a refund?
-Yes, if it is unsuitable we are happy to accept returns as long as it is unfitted and in the original condition. However, as this is made to order, rather than a stock held item, we are only a small business so would appreciate if you could be as sure as you can before ordering and would encourage you to ask for advice if you are unsure in order to keep our costs and losses to a minimum.

The measurements available are not suitable for me, can the tap be made any taller?
-This can be purchased as a custom made to measure option - see this listing to select your size.

Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Copper & Brass section of the website for over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass.

What size is this tap?
-Please see measurements on the photographs in the listing for exact size. Visit the Copper & Tap section of our website for more options as well as a custom size version of this tap.

What size is the water inlet pipework for this tap?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe below the countertop where the water is connected. Whilst this has exposed 22mm pipework, the inlet is still 15mm.

Can this tap be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, this tap does not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. This is designed to fit onto a countertop. This is fitted by screwing the brass base into the top of the counter from above using the screws provided. This is not fitted using a back nut.

Is this suitable for a bath?
-This tap will be suitable for some baths, although this style is generally sold for basins and sinks as it has a water inlet pipe which is a 15mm diameter. Some baths, particularly in older houses have a water inlet pipe of 22mm. Please check with your plumber or fitter if you are unsure of your pipe size if you are buying for a bath, or message us for advice.

Can the taps you sell be fitted in a shepherds hut?
-Yes, all out taps can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.

Can I use this as an outdoor tap?
-Yes, all the taps we sell are suitable for outdoor use. This tap has a 1 inch nozzle; if you standard Hose lock connectors may be smaller - adaptors are easily available if you wish to use this with a snap on connection.  Amazon have one here or they are available at any plumbing shop.

How do I connect this to my water inlet?
- This is sold as complete tap fitting which has the standard UK 15mm copper pipe attached below the counter where it is fitted. Your water inlet pipe can be attached to the tail end by soldering, compression fittings or push fit fitments.

Can this tap be fitted to a quartz, slate, concrete or marble type counter top?
-We would not recommend this to be fitted to this type of worktop as it is fitted from above by screws, not from a back nut beneath and these type of countertops would not take the 3 small drill holes required. We are looking to develop a tap for these types of counters but this is still in the design stage.

How often will I need to polish my tap to keep it shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the taps, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.

When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of 3 working days after purchase. Please contact us before buying if your order is urgent as these can occasionally be sent earlier depending on our current order volume. All our taps are posted tracked by Royal Mail 48.

I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. All our taps are made by Martin who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please message us via live chat or using the online form.
