A charming Hausswirth garlic pot sourced from a French brocante market. Handmade in Soufflenheim, Alsace, this traditional French pottery piece is crafted from natural clay (terre glaise) extracted from the Haguenau Forest and decorated with the distinctive hand-painted motifs for which the region is renowned.
Poterie Hausswirth has been producing pottery in Soufflenheim for over 100 years and remains one of the best-known makers of traditional Alsatian pottery. This authentic garlic keeper is stamped on the base and features the traditional ventilation holes designed to regulate humidity and air circulation, helping to keep garlic fresh while adding decorative charm to a kitchen.
The warm blue colour, traditional craftsmanship and practical design make this a wonderful piece for a French country kitchen, farmhouse interior or pottery collection. This can look black on some screens but it is navy blue.

Condition & authenticity
Good condition overall. There is a small nibble to the lid knob and a small nibble beneath the lid, as shown in the photographs. These minor imperfections do not detract from display or use. Authentic Hausswirth pottery sourced from a French brocante market. Exact age unknown, as the pottery continues to produce similar traditional pieces today.
