French House Number 56, Vintage Enamel Number 56 Sign, Door Number Plaque

This is an original French enamel door number 56 which would add a touch of French country chic to any front door. This is a genuine vintage French vitreous enamel on steel number, which has usually spent years on a front door, it will have scratches, marks and signs of a previous life; this is part of its appeal. This particular number sign is in a good condition so may not have been mounted for very long. This is not a new copy, this is an original thick metal genuine French number plaque  bought at a traditional brocante market in France. These are usually issued by the local town mayor or council for each house, they are not for retail sale in shops. As such, some of these were never mounted and are in very good condition as the owners either didn't want an enamel number or there was not a house of that number in the town or village. Some villages over the years have changed the colours to red, green or in this case beige with a brown number.
