Vintage French Kitchen Chalkboard Noticeboard | Alpine Chalet Decor

A wonderfully unusual vintage French kitchen chalkboard and wall noticeboard, featuring opening wooden shutter-style doors, two practical blackboard panels and a colourful Alpine mountain scene. This extra-large vintage French brocante find was made by Country Corner and combines useful kitchen organisation with rustic French chalet décor.

The central artwork depicts children sledging in a snowy mountain village and is inscribed “Les Joies de la Montagne” – “The Joys of the Mountains”. On either side are hinged wooden panels with heart-shaped cut-outs and blackboards: one marked “Aujourd’hui” (“Today”) for reminders and daily notes, while the other has strings with miniature wooden pegs for displaying photographs, postcards, shopping lists or messages.

Measuring an impressive 117cm wide when fully open, this is much more than a decorative picture. It works as a statement kitchen memo board, family organiser, wall chalkboard and photo display, while its rustic timber and Alpine imagery make it particularly suited to French country homes, ski chalets, mountain lodges, cafés and holiday cottages.
