A charming vintage French ceramic cornichon jar, sourced from a traditional French brocante. Finished in a warm honey-coloured glaze, this characterful kitchen pot features a fitted ceramic lid, a decorative metal-effect plaque reading "Cornichons", and traditional wooden serving tongs held neatly at the side.

In France, cornichons are small pickled gherkins, traditionally enjoyed alongside pâté, charcuterie, cheeses and cold meats. Specially designed cornichon jars like this one were used for storing and serving these little pickles, with wooden tongs making them easy to retrieve.

Condition & Authenticity

This is an authentic vintage French ceramic jar, sourced from a French brocante. It is in good vintage condition, with a few small nibbles to the inside of the ceramic lid. These are not particularly noticeable when the lid is in place and are consistent with its age and previous use. As an individually sourced vintage item, this is a one-off piece.
