A characterful vintage French brocante find, this matching set of four solid cast brass nautical door plaques was designed for use aboard a boat or yacht and includes the titles ADMIRAL, SKIPPER, BOSCO and MOUSSE.

Heavy and beautifully cast with raised lettering, each plaque has fixing holes at either end ready for mounting to a cabin door, bulkhead, wall or display. Together they make an unusual piece of authentic maritime decor and are particularly appealing because two of the plaques retain traditional French seafaring terminology.

For English-speaking collectors, the nautical meanings are:

ADMIRAL – Admiral, a senior naval commander.
SKIPPER – Captain or person in command of a boat or yacht.
BOSCO – French nautical term for the bosun or boatswain, traditionally a senior member of the deck crew.
