FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
-
All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.

Can I buy just one of these taps or are they only available as a pair?
-Yes you can, please see listing  - Copper and Brass Kitchen Tap, Bathroom Tap – All Things French Store

These measurements are not suitable for me, can these be made to my own measurements?
-Yes, these taps can be made to measure at no extra cost. Please see listing - Antique Style Copper and Brass Bathroom or Kitchen Taps – All Things French Store

Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the copper Basins and Taps section of our website where you will find 4 or 5 different styles including pillar taps, wall mounted taps and a beautiful mixer tap made from copper and brass.

What size are these taps?
-See photos on each listing for the tap head sizes of all the taps we sell.

What size is the water inlet pipework for these taps?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe below the countertop where the water is connected.

Can these taps be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, these taps do not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. They are designed to fit onto a countertop. They are fitted by screwing the brass base into the top of the counter using the screws provided not from a back nut underneath.

Are these taps suitable for a bath?
-These taps will be suitable for some baths, although they are generally sold for basins and sinks as they have a water inlet pipe which is 15mm. Some baths, particularly in older houses have a water inlet pipe of 22mm. Please check with your plumber or fitter if you are unsure of your pipe size if you are buying these for a bath.

Can these taps be fitted to a quartz, slate or marble type counter top?
- We do not recommend our taps for fitting to this type of worktop as they are secured by small screws into the counter top not from a back nut underneath from above and these type of countertops may not be suitable for the small drill holes required. We are looking to develop a tap for these types of counters but this is still in the design stage.

Can these be fitted in a camper van?
-Yes these can be fitted in a camper van, we have sold many of these for camper van and horse box conversions. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join these to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.

Can I use these as outdoor taps?
-Yes, these taps are suitable for outdoor use.

How do I connect these to my water inlet under my sink or basin?
-These are sold as complete tap fittings which have the standard UK 15mm copper pipe (tail ends) attached below the counter where they are fitted. Your water inlet pipe can be attached to these tail ends by soldering, compression fittings or push fit fitments.

How often will I need to polish my taps to keep them shiny and what should I use?
-Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the tap, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.

When will my taps arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of 3-5 working days after purchase. See checkout for an accurate and up to date delivery estimate. Please contact us  before buying if your order is urgent as these can also often be sent earlier especially depending on current demand.

I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
--Yes we can. These are made by Martin, our production partner, who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. We are often out of the country or in a noisy workshop so rarely hear the phone. The quickest way to contact us is through the website live chat (you will be speaking to a real person, either Martin or Louise, not a chat bot!) or our online contact form. If you would like a call back please leave your contact details. Alternatively, leave a message on our answerphone at 01772 494985 and we will call you back.
