This is a small French vintage footstool also known as a gout stool. These were traditionally used to aid gout as it raises the legs and the rocking movement helps circulation. This would be a handy little stool in any home and is in a used condition as shown in the pictures which form part of the description. This stool folds away for easy storage making it ideal for a smaller room or flat. It has some wear to the wood sections; the yellow velour type upholstery has no rips but is a bit shabby. This dates from around 1970s if not a little earlier and would be best described as rustic and a little basic. It would benefit from new upholstery and a varnish. It would add a French retro flair to any home.
All the items we sell are bought from French brocante fairs and flea markets so are used or vintage. They will show signs of a previous life, this is part of their unique French shabby chic appeal - "If you are looking for new, these may not be for you".
