❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS❓

Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
-
All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.

Can I buy this as a pair?
-Yes, for a pair please see listing - pair of taps

If this is unsuitable, can I return it?
- Yes, returns are accepted if the item is unsuitable, provided it is in its original condition and has not been fitted. As all of our taps are handmade to order by our production partner, Lea Gas & Heating Services, we kindly ask customers to take careful measurements before placing an order to help minimise unnecessary returns for our small business.

If you are unsure about suitability or need advice prior to purchasing, please don’t hesitate to contact us by either live chat or email. We are always happy to provide guidance and will do our best to help resolve any issues.

These measurements available are not suitable for me, can the tap be made any longer?
-This tap can be ordered as a custom size on the following listing Custom made Brass and Copper Tap

Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Copper, basins and Taps section of our website shop where you will find over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass.

What size is this tap?
-Please see measurements on the photographs in the listing for exact sizes.

What size is the water inlet pipework for this tap?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe behind the wall where the water is connected.

Can this tap be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, this tap does not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. This is designed to fit into a wall. This is fitted by screwing the brass base into the wall using the screws provided. This is not fitted using a back nut.

Is this tap suitable for a bath?
-This tap will be suitable for some baths, although this style is generally sold for basins and sinks as it has a water inlet pipe which is a 15mm diameter. Some baths, particularly in older houses have a water inlet pipe of 22mm. Please check with your plumber or fitter if you are unsure of your pipe size if you are buying for a bath, or message us for advice.

Can this be fitted in a shepherds hut?
-Yes this can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.

Can I use this as an outdoor tap?
-Yes, this tap is suitable for outdoor use.

How do I connect this to my water inlet?
-This style of wall-mounted tap is designed to be fitted by securing it directly to the front of the wall. Please note that none of our wall-mounted taps are designed to come apart – each one is sold as a complete, soldered unit. To install this type of tap, you will need full access to the pipework behind your wall. For this reason, we recommend checking with your plumber (or contacting us) before purchasing to ensure this style is suitable for your installation.

-The water inlet pipe can be connected to the tail end using soldering, compression fittings, or push-fit connectors.

-We also stock an alternative version in our eBay shop (ref: T86), designed specifically for use with surface-mounted pipework.

Can this tap be fitted as a direct replacement for my existing wall mounted tap?
-  This tap is designed to be fitted from the front of a wall where there is existing access to the pipework behind – typically in a new build or during a refit, rather than as a direct swap. It is supplied as a complete, pre-soldered unit and does not come apart.

-To install, you will need full access to the wall behind the fitting point in order to connect the water supply. Please note, this tap cannot be attached to copper pipe protruding from an existing wall, as all connections must be made behind the wall.

-If you are unsure about suitability, we recommend checking with your plumber or contacting us for advice before purchasing.

-For a version suitable for surface-mounted copper pipe, please see item T86 in our eBay shop.

How often will I need to polish my tap to keep it shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are natural metals that will gradually tarnish over time if left unpolished. To maintain a bright, shiny finish, we recommend a quick polish every week or two. We use Brasso wadding, which is widely available in most supermarkets. Simply rub the wadding over the tap, allow it to dry for around 15 minutes, then buff with a soft yellow duster for a lasting shine.

If you prefer a more rustic, aged look, you can leave the taps unpolished. Over time, they will naturally develop a beautiful warm brown patina that enhances their vintage character.

When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of  5 working days after purchase. Please contact us via our online form or live chat before buying if your order is urgent as these can occasionally be sent earlier depending on current demand.

I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. These are made by Martin, our production partner, who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please message us using the online contact form or live chat.
