Rustic Cornichons Pot, French Vintage Gherkin Jar, Farmhouse Country Chic (C37)

This is a traditional ceramic cornichons pot with a wooden lid in a vintage farmhouse style. This likely dates from 1970/80s, maybe a little earlier. The lid is wooden and loose fitting, it sits on top rather than a snug fit, not uncommon for cornichons jar; It has the French word Cornichons inscribed on the front. Cornichons are dilled gherkins, not sweet gherkins. If a recipe calls for cornichons, it is referring to the dilled variety of gherkins popular in French cooking. This vintage jar is a little larger than the usual gherkin jars and would look great in any country style, farmhouse or vintage inspired kitchen. It is in a good used condition as shown, with no cracks. This was bought at a traditional French brocante market; these type of jars are very popular in France and widely collected on the continent.
