❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS❓
Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
- All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.
Can I buy just one of these taps?
-Yes, you can buy just one tap here - single wall tap.
If these are unsuitable, can I return them?
- Yes, returns are accepted if the item is unsuitable, provided it is in its original condition and has not been fitted. As all of our taps are handmade to order by our production partner, Lea Gas & Heating Services, we kindly ask customers to take careful measurements before placing an order to help minimise unnecessary returns for our small business. See our Refunds & Returns Policy here for returns from outside the UK.
These measurements available are not suitable for me, can the taps be made any longer?
-This tap can be purchased as a made to measure option up to 32cm projection Made to Measure Taps here.
-These taps can also be purchased with a short projection of 13cm without any copper insert here - Short Brass Wall Taps
Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Tap section of our website where you will find over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass. New - We now have options of these available if you have exposed copper pipes - please message for details
What size are these taps?
-Please see measurements on the photographs in the listing for exact sizes.
What size is the water inlet pipework for your taps?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe behind the wall where the water is connected. Although these have exposed 22mm chunky pipework, the inlet is still 15mm.
Can these be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, these taps do not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. They are designed to fit into a wall. They are fitted by screwing the brass base into the wall using the screws provided. They are not fitted using back nuts.
Are these suitable for a bath?
-They will be suitable for some baths, although this style is generally sold for basins and sinks as it has a water inlet pipe which is a 15mm diameter. Some baths, particularly in older houses have a water inlet pipe of 22mm. Please check with your plumber or fitter if you are unsure of your pipe size if you are buying for a bath, or message us for advice.
Can your taps be fitted in a shepherds hut?
-Yes all the taps we sell can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.
Can I use these as outdoor taps?
-Yes, all the taps we sell are suitable for outdoor use.
How do I connect these to my water inlet?
- These style of wall mounted taps are fitted by screwing onto the front of the wall, none of our wall taps come apart. They are sold as a complete soldered unit and you will need full access to the pipes behind your wall to fit these style of taps as they do not come apart, so please be sure you can fit your taps to the wall in this way or check with your plumber or ourselves before buying. We now have an option of these available if you have exposed copper pipes - please message for details. Your water inlet pipe can be attached to the tail ends by soldering, compression fittings or push fit fitments.
Can these be fitted as a direct replacement for my existing wall mounted taps?
- Probably not. These are made to be fitted from the front on walls where existing access behind is available, this is usually where a house is having a refit or a new build rather than as a direct swap. They are designed and supplied as a complete unit already soldered together, as such can only be fitted from the front of the wall. This means that to connect your water supply you will need full access to the wall behind where the tap is to be fitted. They do not come apart and cannot be fitted to copper pipe protruding from an existing wall. The water inlet pipe must be connected behind the wall. Please check with your fitter or message for advice before buying if you are unsure. We now have an option of these available if you have exposed copper pipes - please message for details
How often will I need to polish my taps to keep it shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the taps, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.
When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of 5 working days after purchase. Please contact us via the contact form or live chat before buying if your order is urgent as these can occasionally be sent earlier depending on our current order volume.
Not going to be home? At checkout select 'Ship to pickup point' to send your order to a local Parcel shop & collect at a time to suit you.
I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. These are made by Martin who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please message us via the website contact form or live chat.
