French Vintage Copper Hearth Pan Skillet, Traditional Fireplace Drip Pan (B8)

This is a charming vintage French copper hearth pan or skillet bought at a traditional French brocante market. This is tin lined and has been polished; it is in a good used condition with a little bump as shown and to be expected of an item at least 70 years old, if not more. These type of pans were traditionally used in kitchens with an open fire. The pan was placed under the meat joint to collect the juices and fat for either later use or to baste the meat. The little stand helps it stay upright. These are often found in an oval shape as well as this style. These were also used as a small saucepans for cooking over a fire or as an ash pan for a wood burning stove. They were traditionally hung on the wall next to the hearth when not in use. As we buy all our stock in France from local markets all the items we sell are used or vintage and will show signs of a previous life. It is not always possible to show every minor scratch on a photo so if you are looking for new then these may not be for you. Any significant flaws are always highlighted in both photos and descriptions. NB: Shown with a standard size kitchen ladle for scale, smaller ladle not included.
