❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ❓
Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
- All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.
If I order the wrong size can I return this?
-As these are made to your own custom sizes and are not a stock item, they are generally non refundable. This is a bespoke tap & made to your own specific measurements - Bespoke items are exempt from The Consumer Act 2015 and Distance Selling Regulations and cannot be returned if you have mis-measured or it is unsuitable. However, please do contact us if you are having an issue after purchase and we will do our best to help. We are only a small business so would appreciate if you could be as sure as you can before ordering and would encourage you to ask for advice if you are unsure in order to keep our costs and losses to a minimum.
Can I buy this as a pair?
-Yes, for a pair please see the following item - Pair of wall mounted taps
These measurements available are not suitable for me, can the tap be made any longer?
-This tap cannot be made any longer as the 15mm copper pipework would not be strong enough. However, we have another style of tap which has 22mm copper pipework meaning it can be made up to 32cm projection. See the following item Taps to 32cm
Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Copper, basins and Taps section of our website shop where you will find over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass.
What size is this tap?
-Please see measurements on the photographs in the listing for exact sizes.
What size is the water inlet pipework for this tap?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe below the countertop where the water is connected.
Can this tap be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, this tap does not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. This is designed to fit into a wall. This is fitted by screwing the brass base into the wall using the screws provided. This is not fitted using a back nut.
Is this tap suitable for a bath?
-This tap will be suitable for some baths, although this style is generally sold for basins and sinks as it has a water inlet pipe which is a 15mm diameter. Some baths, particularly in older houses have a water inlet pipe of 22mm. Please check with your plumber or fitter if you are unsure of your pipe size if you are buying for a bath, or message us for advice.
Can this be fitted in a shepherds hut?
-Yes this can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.
Can I use this as an outdoor tap?
-Yes, this tap is suitable for outdoor use.
Can this be fitted as a direct replacement for my existing wall mounted tap?
- Probably not. This is made to be fitted from the front on walls where existing access behind is available, this is usually where a house is having a refit or a new build rather than as a direct swap. It is designed and supplied as a complete unit already soldered together, as such it can only be fitted from the front of the wall. This means that to connect your water supply you will need full access to the wall behind where the tap is to be fitted. This unit does not come apart and it cannot be fitted to copper pipe protruding from an existing wall. The water inlet pipe must be connected behind the wall. Please check with your fitter or message for advice before buying if you are unsure.
How do I connect this to my water inlet?
-This style of wall-mounted tap is designed to be fitted by securing it directly to the front of the wall. Please note that none of our wall-mounted taps are designed to come apart – each one is sold as a complete, soldered unit. To install this type of tap, you will need full access to the pipework behind your wall. For this reason, we recommend checking with your plumber (or contacting us) before purchasing to ensure this style is suitable for your installation.
-The water inlet pipe can be connected to the tail end using soldering, compression fittings, or push-fit connectors.
-We also stock an alternative version on our website, designed specifically for use with surface-mounted pipework.
I have surface exposed mounted copper pipework, do you have taps that can be used for this type of fitting arrangement?
- Yes we do. If you have a surface/exposed mounted copper water inlet pipe we have this tap option with a suitable wall bracket. See the following listing Copper & Brass Exposed Pipework Tap.
How often will I need to polish my tap to keep it shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the taps, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.
When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time 3-5 working days. Contact us via the online contact form or live chat before buying if your order is urgent as these can also often be sent earlier depending on demand. All our taps are posted by Royal Mail Tracked 48.
I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. These are made by Martin, our production partner, who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please contact us using the online contact form or via live chat
