❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS❓
Are your taps suitable for use in a commercial setting?
- All the taps we sell are designed for use in a domestic setting only, either indoor or outdoor. They are not sold as suitable for commercial premises.
Can I buy a pair of these taps?
-Yes, for just one tap see listing single tap
I need to buy more than the stock showing on the listing. Do you have more available?
-Yes we do. As we make all our taps to order we limit the number available in listings to ensure we can keep to our dispatch times. If you need more than the quantity listed, please message us and we will increase the number available to buy.
If these are unsuitable, can I return them?
-Yes, if they are unsuitable we are happy to accept returns as long as they are unfitted and in the original condition. However, as these are made to order, rather than a stock held item, we are only a small business so would appreciate if you could be as sure as you can before ordering and would encourage you to ask for advice if you are unsure in order to keep our costs and losses to a minimum.
The measurements available are not suitable for me, can the taps be made any longer?
-These can be ordered as a custom size order here Pair of Custom made Brass and Copper Taps
Do you sell any other style of copper and brass taps?
-Yes we do. See the Copper Sinks and Taps section of our website shop where you will find over 20 different styles including single and pairs of pillar taps, more wall mounted taps as well as a beautiful mixer tap in copper and brass.
What size are these taps?
- These have a small tap head, best suited to a smaller basin or sink, they will be too small for a kitchen sink or full size bathroom sink, see measurements on the photographs for exact sizes.
The tap head is too small for my requirements, do you sell a chunkier tap?
-Yes we do, these taps are made from small tap heads with 15mm copper pipework, we sell other taps in both 1/2 inch size and a chunkier 3/4 inch size which have thicker 22mm pipe rather than the standard 15mm as well as 2 other slightly larger styles. See the Copper Basins, Sinks & Taps section of our website
What size is the water inlet pipework?
-All our taps have the standard 15mm water inlet pipework, this is the pipe behind the wall where the water is connected.
Can these be fitted directly into a basin or sink?
-No, these taps do not fit into basin or sink pre cast holes. They are designed to fit into a wall. They are fitted by screwing the brass base into the wall using the screws provided. They are not fitted using a back nut.
Are these suitable for a bath?
-These taps will be far too small for a bath.
Can these be fitted in a shepherds hut or camper van?
-Yes they can be fitted in a shepherds hut, we have sold many of these for camper vans, shepherds huts and horse box conversions. NB. Camper van pipework is usually smaller than standard 15mm so you will need to use a reducing fitting to join this to the inlet pipe. These are readily available at any plumbers or DIY merchant.
Can I use these as outdoor taps?
-Yes, they are suitable for outdoor use.
How do I connect these to my water inlet?
- All our wall mounted taps are fitted by screwing onto the front of the wall, they do not come apart, they are a sold as complete soldered units and you will need full access to the pipes behind your wall to fit these as they do not come apart, so please be sure you can fit these to the wall in this way or check with your plumber or ourselves before buying. Your water inlet pipe can be attached to the tail end by soldering, compression fittings or push fit fitments.
I have surface exposed mounted copper pipework, do you have taps that can be used for this type of fitting arrangement?
- Yes we do. If you have a surface/exposed mounted copper water inlet pipe, We can now offer any of the wall mounted taps with a different bracket for exposed pipe. We are in the process of creating listings for each of these - contact us if you want the this option and we will add a listing. See an example of one already listed here
Can these be fitted as a direct replacement for my existing wall mounted taps?
- Probably not. These taps are made to be fitted from the front on walls where existing access behind is available, this is usually where a house is having a refit or a new build rather than as a direct swap. These are designed and supplied as complete units already soldered together, as such they can only be fitted from the front of the wall. This means that to connect your water supply you will need full access to the wall behind where the tap is to be fitted. They do not come apart and cannot be fitted to copper pipe protruding from an existing wall. The water inlet pipe must be connected behind the wall. Please check with your fitter or message for advice before buying if you are unsure.
How often will I need to polish my taps to keep them shiny and what should I use?
- Copper and brass are metals that naturally tarnish over time if left unpolished. A quick buff up every week or 2 will keep it shiny. We use Brasso wadding to keep our taps shiny. This is available at most supermarkets. Rub some wadding over the taps, let it dry for 15 minutes and buff it off with a yellow duster. If you would prefer the more rustic natural brown patina of copper then leave them unpolished and this colour will develop over time.
When will my order arrive?
-All our taps are made to order with a usual dispatch time of 3-5 working days after purchase. Please contact us via online chat or email before buying if your order is urgent as these can also often be sent earlier depending on current demand.
I have another question or I need some more advice about what tap to buy, can you help?
-Yes we can. These are made by Martin, our production partner, who is a gas engineer and plumber. He is more than happy to answer questions regarding tap size, style and fitting. Please message us using either the live chat (this is either Martin or Louise, not a chat bot) or our online contact form where we can arrange for a telephone call if you prefer. Alternatively, leave a message on our answerphone at 01772 494985 and we will call you back. We are often out of the country or in a noisy workshop so rarely hear the phone.
