Pair of British WWI Trench Art Brass Vases, 18 Pounder Shell Cases (C42)

This is a pair of WW1 British brass vases decorated and formed by hand, known as trench art. Trench Art is a term given today to a wide variety of decorative items, sometimes also functional, produced during or soon after the First World War. Some pieces were made in the trenches and others by workshop troops behind the front lines. They had the materials, machinery, skill and occasional spare time. These historical pieces of WW1 militaria are dated 1917 and 1918 and would make a great gift for a militaria collector. These relics were bought at a traditional French market in the Somme region of France, are original WW1 pieces which are sold lightly polished. These are in a good solid condition. We buy all our stock in France from local markets and as such all the items we sell are used or vintage and will show signs of a previous life, in this case these are over 100 years old so will have small dents and marks. This is all part of their unique vintage/antique appeal. It is not always possible to show every minor scratch on a photo so if you are looking for new then these may not be for you. Any significant flaws are always highlighted in both photos and descriptions.
