Collection of French Rustic Escargot Dishes, Vintage Snail Plates (C43)

This is a collection of 9 assorted vintage escargot serving dishes with handles and some with the makers stamp on the base. Each of these vintage dishes holds 6 escargots (snails). The indentations keep the snails from falling out or shifting too much in the dish. They also ensure that all the seasoning and juices remain in the indentations. Whilst these could still be used for serving cooked snails, they would also be ideal for serving stuffed mushrooms or for quails egg dishes. These were purchased at a traditional French brocante market and would suit a retro style kitchen, farmhouse kitchen or would be great in a French restaurant or bistro. These vary in condition but some are in a well used condition with some chips as shown in the pictures which form part of the description; the price reflects the condition. All the items we sell are used or vintage and will show signs of a previous life. This is part of their unique French shabby chic appeal. The white flash marks are from light reflection on the pictures due to the glossy finish.
