Through the Christmas Rush and Looking Ahead to the New Year
As we make our way through the final days of the festive season, we wanted to take a moment to pause, reflect, and look ahead. The Christmas rush is now behind us, and while it’s been wonderfully busy, it’s also been a reminder of just how grateful we are for our customers.
We hope you all had a very happy Christmas, and we’d like to wish you a healthy and happy New Year. Thank you, as always, for supporting our UK-based vintage shop and for welcoming our carefully sourced French vintage finds into your homes.
With the quieter weeks of the new year approaching, our thoughts are already turning to what’s next. One thing is certain: our storeroom is currently full of French copper cookware waiting to be re-tinned. French copper is, without doubt, our most popular category, and for good reason. These beautiful, hardworking pieces are timeless, practical, and a true investment for any kitchen.
Re-tinning copper is a time-consuming process, which means it simply doesn’t happen during November and December when we’re at our busiest in the run-up to Christmas. Each year, we make a point of tackling copper in the new year—so if we had to declare a New Year’s resolution, it would be a simple one: tin more copper! Expect to see plenty of newly restored French copper pans, saucepans, and cookware listed over the coming weeks.
While we’d usually be thinking about brocante markets in France, they don’t truly get going again until March or April, so for now we’ll be staying put in a rather chilly UK—focusing on restoration, listing, and preparing for the months ahead.
A Little Trip Away
We will be away next weekend in Nottinghamshire for an event, and of course we’ll be taking the opportunity to have a nosey around some local antique and vintage shops while we’re there. You never know what inspiration—or treasure—might turn up!
As always, keep an eye on the website for new vintage arrivals, and thank you for being part of our journey. We’re looking forward to another year of sourcing and sharing beautiful French vintage homewares with you.
Coming Next Time on the Blog
Next time, we’ll be sharing A Day in the Life of a Vintage Shop Owner, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at a typical Monday at All Things French Store. From packing the weekends orders and organising the storeroom to photographing vintage pieces and tackling admin, it’s a glimpse into the everyday reality of running a UK-based French vintage shop.
Keep an eye on the blog—we’d love for you to join us.
Have a lovely weekend,
Louise
