German WW1 Memorabilia Trench Art Brass Pan Trivet or Plant Stand dated 1917, 4kg (C63)

This is a stunning solid brass German trench art piece made into a plant stand or pan trivet. This is a deformed shell known as trench art, bought at a French militaria market in the Somme region of France. 'Trench art' is a term used to describe objects made from the debris and by-products of modern warfare. Trench Art is usually associated with the First World War, although similar items have been produced in other conflicts too. Most trench art was made by servicemen to pass the time when not in the front line. This is dated 1917, weighs a staggering 4kg and started life as a German shell. It is in a good used condition and is an unusual example of trench art which would add to any collection or simply as a gift for a veteran.
