Vintage French Dressmakers Sewing Tool for Measuring Skirt Length "Le Fitzfine" (C82)

This is a vintage French sewing tool for measuring a skirt length called Le Fitzfine. This was bought at a traditional French brocante market and quite unusually is still in its original box. It still has the tailors chalk! The base is cast iron with a brass screw. The box title reads Nouvel arrondisseur pour jupes Le Fitzfine modele fort, special pour couture. Hauteur: 50 centimetres. Which roughly translates as New rounder for skirts The Fitzfine strong model, special for sewing. Height: 50 centimetre. These were sometimes built into sewing desks but this model is portable. This is in a very good condition and looks hardly used. The box has a little wear as shown from storage. The instructions for use are written in French on the front of the box. This would make a fabulous gift for a keen seamstress or tailor, these are sometimes up cycled into lamps as the base and metal have lovely clear markings.
