Set of 6 Mid Century Retro Cheese Plates, Scandi Style Cheese Plate Set (C57)

This is a lovely set of 6 mid century cheese plates in 2 different colours. These will probably date from 1960s if not earlier. These were made in Poland and have the inscription Porcelit Pruszków, the makers mark and Made in Poland on the back of each plate. Pruszków is a town in Poland. The factory where these were made ceased trading in 2001 but looking at the style and colours these look to be from 1960s/1970s. What is Vitrified Porcelain?
Vitrification is a process of firing the porcelain at a very high temperature to create a non-porous, glass-like surface. This process results in a much harder and more durable material than traditional porcelain. Vitrified porcelain is often used for commercial applications, such as restaurant dinnerware, due to its durability. These plates were bought at a traditional French brocante market, although Made in Poland. They are in a good used condition with some of the usual light surface scratches and marks from 50+ years of use, as you would expect and part of their charm and history.
