French Vintage SNCF Railway Lamp, 1950s Railroad Train Signalling Lantern (B55)

This is a vintage French SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) two colour mode, hand held, metal French Railway signalling lamp. This French made lamp was used during the 1950’s by French rail workers to signal when the train was arriving or departing. This type original metal French SNCF lamp is harder to find than the other ‘Wonder’ version or the more modern plastic versions of these. This railway lamp was bought in France from a traditional French brocante and is in a very well used condition. The lamp opens at the back by loosening the 2 screws, this is worn and rusty inside. This would have originally been powered by a 9V 6LR20 battery (not supplied) which is no longer readily available so we are not able to test this, as such this is sold for a collector, for decoration or for up cycling into a unique table lamp rather than a working lamp. This has a clear window which can be changed to red by pressing in the red button and turning. All the items we sell are used or vintage and will show signs of a previous life.
