French Le Creuset Cousances Cast Iron Casserole Dish, Cousances 4 litre Cocotte Pot (B3)

This is a vintage Cousances (Le Creuset) cast iron casserole pot. This red Cousances cocotte pot was bought in France from a traditional French brocante market and is a used item in a good used vintage condition as shown in the photos which form part of the description. The lid has a couple of small areas of enamel loss on the edge, inside has no spelts or chips and the body has no cracks. These are some wear marks on the outside as shown and to be expected from an older pot. The inside is stained as shown. Cousances was a French cookware manufacturer, known for enamelled cast iron pans. The Cousances foundry in north eastern France began making cast iron pans in 1553; four centuries later, by then an international company, it was acquired by Le Creuset in 1957. Cookware under the Cousances brand continued to be manufactured by Le Creuset into the early 1980s. This will probably date from around late 1970s/80s and was made for the USA market as it is labelled in Quarts. All the items we sell are used or vintage and will show signs of a previous life.
