WW2 German or Swiss Wicker Ammunition Carrier Complete with 4 Empty Carrying Tubes

This is a WW2 era German or Swiss wicker ammunition carrying basket with its original 4 empty tubes. These baskets were made to hold artillery shells and would have been carried by two soldiers during one of the World Wars in Europe or in the following years. It is very sturdy and reinforced on the bottom with wood and bolts. All 4 tubes are empty apart from a cardboard roll in each. This great basket has such possibilities. It would make a great addition to your kitchen or mudroom and it is very common to see them in Swiss homes being used as umbrella stands as they sit flat against a wall. These are becoming increasingly difficult to find, so this would certainly be an interesting talking point in any home. The stencilling is still clear, the twill handles are still intact and the lids all still open and close with their original hinges. This is in a good used condition as shown in the photos with some expected wear consistent with age.
