French Vintage Tall Copper Coal Scuttle, Lions Head and Delft Handles (A48)

This is a vintage classic French hammered copper coal scuttle bought at a traditional brocante market in France. The hinged, brass top handle has lion's head mounts and both handles have a thick delft porcelain hand grip. It has a brass pedestal base and is quite a lightweight item at 0.9kg. This in good used condition with just light age and wear from its previous life in a French home; a couple of small dints as shown and expected from item over 50 years old. This likely dates from the 1970s but could be a little earlier. This would look charming beside any fireplace giving it a French vintage flair, equally it could be used as a walking stick or umbrella stand or to hold dried flowers.
As all the items we sell are bought from brocante markets as either used or vintage they will show signs of their previous life in a French home or professional setting, this is all part of their appeal, however, if you are looking for new this may not be for you.
